Ahh, the (occasional) benefits that come with these artsy jobs… Kahi was invited along with other maoli painters to do some painting in their cast member cafeteria…in exchange for Room & Board for the Family!!! How cool is that! We totally enjoyed the stay which was for 3days and 2nights. This place totally deserving to be the next best place for a Staycation! Aulani, see you in 2012! http://resorts.disney.go.com/aulani-hawaii-resort/

A special exhibit (thru Jan. 8, 2012) of paintings from the Forbidden City, China, a few not normally accessible to the Chinese public, this is your chance to view this amazing show! A lot of hard work went into this show of only two months. Check it out! Congrats especially to HAA curator Shawn Eichman, Larry Maruya and the gang at the Installations Department, and graphic designer Jared Stone. Visit http://honoluluacademy.org/art/exhibitions/11737-masterpieces_landscape_painting_forbidden_city for more info, and for everything else in between!

Proud of my recent Sponge Bob cake for my nephew Dayton. If you need a cake or something from the oven for an event, and don’t mind it coming from a beginner let me know (half price)! -Diana

Got to see the Aulani for the first time…Completed! We saw all of our Artist ‘Ohana’s work throughout the premise, from the architecture, to the interior of the rooms, very beautiful and magnificent, truly a sight to see and experience! Coming to the Aulani even to just see the art is worth the drive! They really did a fantastic job of telling a story! We tried to see Kahi’s wood sculpture, but couldn’t as the room that had his artwork was occupied! Next time. There was a wonderful Mahalo Reception and the food was so ‘ono! Mahalo to Disney Imagineering Crew, Peggy Krantz, John Condrey, and Maile Meyer for including us in this project! Wanted to share that Kahi painted a few Vinylmations that went out as gifts to media press as gifts…we saw one online that was sold through ebay, sad but at the same time cool.
