Mokupapapa Discovery Center

Kahi’s latest mural installed at the Mokupapapa Discovery Center in Hilo depicts his interpretation of the first eight Wa in the Kumulipo, the Hawaiian Creation Chant.  Filled with marine life, it pays homage to the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, or as we know it, Papahanaumokuakea, a marine national monument dedicated to resource protection, science, education, and cultural preservation.  While Papahanaumokuakea has restricted access, the Mokupapapa Discovery Center acts as its gateway.  Free and open to the public, when you’re in Hilo, please visit, 76 Kamehameha Ave.
