Aulani Resort & Spa – Preview Opening

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Got to see the Aulani for the first time…Completed!  We saw all of our Artist ‘Ohana’s work throughout the premise, from the architecture, to the interior of the rooms, very beautiful and magnificent, truly a sight to see and experience!  Coming to the Aulani even to just see the art is worth the drive!  They really did a fantastic job of telling a story!  We tried to see Kahi’s wood sculpture, but couldn’t as the room that had his artwork was occupied!  Next time.  There was a wonderful Mahalo Reception and the food was so ‘ono!  Mahalo to Disney Imagineering Crew, Peggy Krantz, John Condrey, and Maile Meyer for including us in this project!  Wanted to share that Kahi painted a few Vinylmations that went out as gifts to media press as gifts…we saw one online that was sold through ebay, sad but at the same time cool.

Anticipated month long event every year, Maoli Arts Month is here.  This year, tribute is made to Artist and Visionary, Hiko’ula Hanapi, whose goal in making Hawaiian Art more accessible to the community had been accomplished way before his passing (We Love You Hiko!).  Visit www.maoliartsmonth.org for the complete schedule of events (throughout April, May, and part of June).  You can see some of Kahi’s work at The ARTS at Marks Garage gallery exhibit (thru June 5), and during a Silent Auction held during the Wearable Art Show (May 19).  Lots of things to see and do!  Don’t miss out!  Remember, this event happens once a  year!
